Matthew John Walter (born July 20, 1989 in Calgary, Alberta) is a Canadian football running back for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He was drafted 34th overall by the Stampeders in the 2011 CFL Draft and was signed by the team on May 26, 2011.[1] Following his training camp release, he returned to playing CIS football for the Calgary Dinos. In 2008, Walter was the Canada West nominee for the Hec Crighton Trophy after taking over as the starting running back from Anthony Woodson after he went down with injury.[2] Walter was re-signed by the Stampeders on December 6, 2011.[3]
